Escape to Love

Katie needed an escape, Jasper needed a wife; neither expected to fall in love. Katie worked in a sweatshop six days a week, fourteen hours a day, and barely managed to earn enough to sustain body and soul. When her wages are again cut for no good reason, she knows she’s sure to starve if she does not try for a different way of life. A letter from her friend urges her to respond to the advertisements in the Matrimonial Times. Although not eager, Katie realizes this is her only hope for survival. Jasper needs a wife. After being charmed by the handsome rancher over the course of a few letters, Katie finally accepts his proposal. She heads West in search of a new life, not allowing herself to dream that love might be an option. Soon after her arrival, she learns that Jasper lured her West with lies. Having been betrayed and without funds to return to New York, Katie has no choice but to stay on at the ranch. Although she is furious at Jasper for luring her through duplicity, she knows she needs to be grateful for a home and three meals a day. She suffers through the first few months but not without losing her heart to the handsome widower. There’s only one problem, this widower did not want love. Can Katie forgive Jasper for his betrayal? Will Jasper be able to love again after burying the love of his life? Find out now as Emma Ashwood takes you on a magical journey into the wild west.
