O tej książce
Albert Camus in his great novel La Peste (The Plague) captured the angst, the boredom, the grief, the heroism, the spiritual questioning, the villainy, the courage, the longing evoked by the plague and the quarantine. His characters are so very vivid and in their dialogue try to make sense of the human condition and the catastrophe that has befallen them. He wrote the novel during the catastrophe of the Nazi occupation of France, but the work captures man's profound helplessness in the face of human disasters the visitation of which reveals the very tenuosness of our existence. This play attempts to capture some of the richness of the novel but with changes necessary to adapt it for the stage.
