What America Is: The Moral Logic of the American Revolution and Other Essays

This short book is a collection of C. Bradley Thompson’s essays, speeches, and op-eds that attempt to explain what America is and why it is still worth defending. In a deeper and more personal sense, this collection represents a lifetime of Thompson’s thinking about the nature and meaning of America. Building on what he called the “new moral history” first developed in America’s Revolutionary Mind (2019), Thompson here extends and deepens his insights into the history and moral character of the American people. Ultimately this book is about the “ism” in Americanism.
