Thomas Holley Chivers, Friend of Poe

With selections from his poems; a strange chapter in American literary history-Thomas Holley Chivers, an American doctor-turned-poet was best known for his friendship with Edgar Allan Poe. The first interaction between the two was in 1840 though they did not meet until 1845 in New York. The two became friends and Chivers was willing to give Poe lifetime financial support if he moved to the South.This book is about that friendship.
