The Extinction Gene

The Extinction Gene is a biological, end-of-the-world thriller which poses two thought provoking ‘what ifs’: what if mitochondrial DNA has an approaching end-game in store for mankind’s survival, keeping tabs of the number of generations dating back to the time of the first humans; and what if a rare genetic strain of females – those descending from the last transitioning Homo sapiens - still have the capacity to provide continuing life to thousands of generations more?Against this backdrop, The Extinction Gene tells the coming-of-age story of Mikhail Kuznetsky, a twelve-year old Russian immigrant, whose family falls victim to the efforts of a quasi-government organization to exploit the looming human tragedy. Mikhail’s mother has been captured by the organization and sequestered in a colony - on the most remote spot on the planet. In Mikhail’s quest to find her, he must rely on his own unwavering resolve and the interesting characters that join him on his journey.
