The Day the Horses Cried

Charlain Hayes has been struggling to remain solvent with running her small quarter horse ranch outside a small California town. She has four horses she greets every morning with apples for treats, and they seem to sense her moods and respond accordingly. Mr. C is her best horse of great promise and on his way to be a recognized champion. Her right hand man, Yosemite, is a combination ranch hand, confidant, and advisor to her. A Kiowa Indian and former jockey, he keeps things running smoothly. On a flight to Indianapolis to help her daughter with the birth of her grandchild, Charlain meets a man in the seat next to her that she recognizes as an alcoholic. Willie Powers introduces himself. They talk freely and he offers his financial savvy to help Charlain keep her ranch.
