O tej książce
Having grown up in a household of antiquarian books and reference works customarily illustrated with pho- tomechanical reproductions, I have to admit that I had taken photogravures for granted. Now, after nearly two decades of dealing primarily in paper negatives and salt prints, I find myself captivated by William Henry Fox Talbot's photographic and photoglyphic engravings, the world's earliest photogravures. Studied with the naked eye, they are surprisingly beautiful little prints. Under magnification, their lines and dots map out the fascinating story this catalogue begins to tell. I wish to thank Roger Taylor, Dr. Georgia Toutziari, Kelly Wilder and Helena Wright for their kind assis- tance. And finally, I would like to recognize Anthony Burnett-Brown, Talbot's great-great grandson, whose recent untimely passing has left a void in the world of Talbot scholarship. HPK, JR.
