Rebel Jacqueline

Ninety-nine girls from Normandy demurely tried to look their best as they waited to be chosen as brides by the Catholic settlers of New France, but the hundredth girl was determined not to allow herself to be married to anybody. Jacqueline de Crespigny was a Huguenot, and had been brought over to Canada by a trick of her Catholic aunt. Many adventures were to befall her before her brother could rescue her; with God's help she would remain loyal to her Protestant faith at all costs.
