In 1901 A.F. Meisselbach stated in a Sporting Goods Dealer interview, "you are, no doubt, aware that our design of reels originated with us. Our efforts were to make a practical reel; one that would not easily get our of order, or which te repairs would cost very little and which could be sold at a low price... We are often confronted with the claim that our reels are not expensive enough for some well-to-do anglers, but they all admit their practicability.
