Mattie's Secret

It’s 1929. Times are difficult for people. Twelve-year-old Mattie Blackson is orphaned after her parents die in a fire. With orphanages full, she is placed in a home of a couple with 7 other children. She loves her new life, but the time comes when even Emma Sue and John Grady can’t afford to keep her. To make matters worse, Mattie finds a tiny baby left on the doorstep. Fearing she will be homeless as well, Mattie keepsbaby Sophie a secret in an old chicken coop. She feeds her and takes care of her on her own. Can Mattie preserve her role as a mama when she finds out she has a new home?
