O tej książce
Nowadays, the word toxic is overused and often misused. Everyone either wants to be toxic or accuse others of being toxic. Toxic thoughts and actions are like poison, but very few are willing to look within and recognize their own character flaws. They’re too busy trying to exploit the imperfections in others, so they can feel better about themselves, which is indeed TOXIC.Leery, a modern-day mean girl with a poisonous streak, was raised to be toxic. From the beginning of her life, she was taught to manipulate and walk over anyone who stood in the way of her getting what she wanted. Although she knew the difference between right and wrong, she still picked wrong every single time and did so with no remorse.Maze is a sweet country girl, who is the opposite of Leery. Born and raised in a small town, she was taught to let her love and light shine the right way. Although she may appear perfect on the outside, she has inner turmoil and a home life that is less than ideal. It doesn’t help matters that the mean girl, Leery, hates her for no reason. Will Maze be able to maintain her serenity amid the chaos of her new surroundings, or will the dark forces diminish her light?Henry is what we define as a good man. He’s committed to his family, loyal to his friends, and the epitome of responsible. Unfortunately, being a good man in a toxic environment doesn’t always mean that one will reach the top. Sometimes doing the right thing only nets minute results, and that can turn a good man into a beast. After reading about Leery, Maze Henry, and their friends, the word toxic will have a much deeper meaning. After all, sometimes the toxins kill you, but only if you let them. Other times, returning toxicity may be the only way to stop the pain, because, in the real world, there must be balance.
