Jaume Plensa: One Thought Fills Immensity

Internationally celebrated Spanish artist Jaume Plensa (born 1955) has emerged as one of the most significant voices in contemporary sculpture. Over the course of more than 30 years, Plensa has amassed a multifaceted body of work that mixes traditional and unconventional materials on both intimate and monumental scales. Working in steel, cast iron, resin, glass and stone, Plensa has traversed the globe with his public works and international exhibitions including at the Reina Sofia (Spain), Yorkshire Sculpture Park (United Kingdom) and the Galerie nationale du Jeu de Paume (France). From the Crown Fountain in Chicago, a modern-day agora in an urban landscape, to Echo , the enormous white sculpted head that greets Seattle's citizens on the shore, Plensa's nomadic practice speaks to the capacity and beauty of humanity.
