What this eBook by Grian Press The text has been made more accessible by making clear demarcation points that can be reasonably termed chapters. Modernisation of the style involved removing the habit of capitalisation of many words that need not be capitalised. Names beginning M’ have been changed to Mc. Certain other quaint spellings have been changed and obvious mistakes corrected. Footnotes have been gathered as endnotes, accessible by links. A searchable index of keywords has been added. New illustrations, mainly recent photographs, but also some old engravings, have been added to complement the original illustrations of the work, thus making the reading experience richer.
