O tej książce

Hardman is inspired by the British working class novels of the fifties and sixties, such as Room at the Top and Saturday Night and Sunday Morning. It tells the story of Pete Cooper, a working class lad from south London who has made good. Rising out of the British Blues Boom of the sixties he has achieved the status of guitar hero and rock star, playing to huge audiences in the stadiums of North America with his band The Transformers. But fame and fortune have counted for very little, because Pete has yet to grow out of the limitations imposed on him by his upbringing. Returning to London after six years on the road he begins the painful process of sorting himself out and starting out again with a new band (Pete Cooper’s Transformation). At first he seems doomed to repeat the same mistakes, until he is overtaken by the tragic events which come close to destroying everything that he has built up. Out of these circumstances come a number of profound insights which set him on a path of re-examining and restoring his relationships with his estranged parents and thereby setting him free to begin rebuilding his life on a sounder footing. The music of Pete Cooper’s Transformation, as featured in the novel, is also available as a free download .
