O tej książce

• Three of James Fenimore Cooper's most popular books are bound together in this edition: The Spy, The Last of the Mohicans and its sequel The Pathfinder. The Spy (1821)One of the first and most notable spy novels ever written. Set at the start of the Revolutionary War, peddler Harvey Birch becomes a spy for the American side. Because of the top secret nature of his job, many Americans suspect Birch is spying for the British. While rebels and the Loyalists are on common ground in Westchester County in New York, the appearance of neutrality is not reflected in the hearts nor minds of those who live there.Last of the MohicansThe Last of the Mohicans, set in 1757 during the French and Indian War, tells the story of a white man adopted by the last members of a dying tribe called the Mohicans. The story revolves around Mohican Chingachgook, his son Uncas and the adopted child Nathaniel Hawkeye. These three Americans refuse to enter the militia for Britain in 1757 for they want freedom but Nathaniel unwittingly becomes the protector of the two daughters of a British colonel, who have been targeted by Magua, a sadistic Huron warrior. Newly arrived Major Duncan Heyward and guide Magua are to escort Munro's daughters from Albany to their father at the fort. While Duncan hopes to marry Cora, she is not in love with him. A romance blossoms between the British officer's daughter and Nathaniel. Making matters worse, Nathaniel follows his own agenda. While the story is about love and family, it is also a tale about a dying tribe, the Mohicans. The PathfinderSent on a secret mission to a British fortress hidden among Ontario, Canada's Thousand Islands, the Pathfinder, a.k.a. Hawkeye, Deerslayer, Natty Bumppo, has to protect Mabel Dunham and root out a devious traitor. Along the way, Pathfinder survives a storm on the lake, battles Iroquois, and navigates over a waterfall in a birch-bark canoe. Pathfinder, Mabel and a lake captain named Jasper Western are meanwhile involved in a love triangle. While Mabel's father would like her to marry Pathfinder, she is attracted to handsome Western. The Pathfinder is a sequel to Cooper's The Last of the Mohicans.
