Elementary Forest

This text was written for the purpose of explaining the use of the engineer's transit, theodolite, engineer's level and plane table in the solution of fundamental problems related to Forest Engineering. While the use of the infrared and electronic distance measuring instruments do have a place in Forest Engineering, they have been omitted as has been celestial astronomy, photogrammetry and public land survey. It is necessary to master the fundamentals before attempting to solve more advanced problems with more sophisticated equipment. Logarithmic tables have also been omitted from the text because it is believed that they have outlived their usefulness in the age of the electric calculators.
