Electric Poems was originally published in 1972, as part of Tom Clark's ALL STARS (Santa Fe and New York: Goliard/Grossman). Clark had asked contributors "to present a selection of some twenty pages of new work." Electric Poems is thus a sort of chapbook, featuring a continuation of the minimalist poetics Saroyan had pursued in the late 1960s, which never appeared as such.
