Desperate Trail

Three weeks earlier, Tye had brought in the most vicious outlaw he had ever encountered, Yancey Cates. Yancey, along with his brother and other ex-Confederate soldiers who had come to the area resented the Union and anything that represented Unionist authority. During a robbery, they killed some soldiers and townspeople in Brackett and fled to the hills where they continued their rampage, killing, raping, and robbing the homesteaders. Tye had been instrumental in the killing all of the gang and bringing Yancey in for trial. Yancey had swore he would not hang and would kill Tye the first chance he got... after having himself some fun with Tye’s wife, Rebecca.Today was the day that the outlaw was to be hung. Tye had been looking forward to this day but now that it was here, he didn’t know if he was going to enjoy it or not. He had brought in a lot of men that were hung but he had never watched. Startling news came to him as he was drinking coffee in the predawn hour. This news would put himself, Rebecca, and everyone in the area in danger.
