O tej książce

This book is for parents or other volunteer coaches who may be wondering if they know enough to coach youth basketball. I wrote this book because I was in that exact situation and now, after 12 seasons of coaching, I'm so glad I did make the decision to coach.I've now coached basketball for teams of kids ranging from Kindergarten to 5th grade. I had a lot of fun, and learned a lot over the years and thought it might be useful to share of what I learned. If you're starting out as a coach, I think you'll find this book useful because I suggest just seven things you want to get kids to focus on and practice. And the good news is that these are the same basic concepts whether you're coaching Kindergarteners who can hardly get the ball up to the basket, or 5th graders who are just about ready to make the jump to middle school and more competitive leagues. On offense, my teams have always focused 1. Good passes2. Motion3. Screens4. SpacingOn defense, my teams focus on1. The defensive stance/moving your feet2. Help or team defenseAnd, on both ends of the court, we've always focused on rebounding. No team will learn all of these topics right away, but these ideas provide a structure for you to plan your practices around and a sense of where you want to take your team over the course of a season, or several seasons!I hope you'll have as much fun coaching as I did and, even more important, I hope the kids on your teams learn to love the game, learn how to support each other and work together as a team, and have a ton of fun.
