Barleside

Catherine Ridler, daughter of Bosworthy’s wise woman, campaigns against the harshness of the Barleside experiment, instituted to achieve solvency for Exmoor’s central workhouse. Played against a background of diverse characters and customs Catherine’s difficulties are compounded by her brother’s incarceration and her worsening marriage.
