There were some extremely important papers amongst those they had retrieved from the raid on the Japanese HQ. Some so important as to necessitate immediate transmission to Barr. If these papers were to be believed and Ward could see no reason why they shouldn’t, it would appear that the Manhattan Project and the unsuccessful German project was not the only attempt to create an atomic bomb. When the Germans surrendered the U234 had been on her way to Japan with a cargo of secret material designed to help their Allies, a guided missile, a crated jet plane and most alarming of all, scientists from the German atomic bomb project with everything they needed to continue their work. The Allies had breathed a collective sigh of relief, it would now appear that there had been two U Boats on that mission and their collective sigh had been premature. The War in Europe was almost over could it be that this, the last throw of the dice by the Nazis, not just be the revenge of the vanquished could it be part of a bigger plan, an attempt to give the Japanese the power to blackmail the Allies into reinstating the Nazi regime.
