An Examination of the Athanasian Creed: Large Print Edition

This book contains a general overview of the Athanasian Creed to help you understand the creed and learn from it. Our only source for truth is the Word of God, and we will use it through-out the study of this creed. We battle false teaching by knowing truth; thus, you must know the Bible. This is exactly why the creed was written, to combat false teaching. The Apostles warned us about false teachers, and Jude tells us they are already in the church. This creed was developed to protect the early church from false doctrine concerning Christ and the Trinity. Understanding the theology and doctrine found within this creed will help you in decerning biblical truth. This creed, in addition to biblical knowledge, coupled with the light of the Spirit of God, is that which enables the believer to detect false teaching when it arises in their local church. We do have an advantage over the early church – we have access to God’s Holy Word. The Bible is in our own language, is available in audio, digital, and printed formats. This was not the case until around 1500. The printing press was invented around 1450 by Johann Gutenberg. It was the printing press that made the bible accessible to all Christians.
