Amateur Means Lover

A London boarding house. A new tenant arrives, Courtney Kemble. He is evasive about his past - hinting that for years he has been looking after an invalid mother. Courtney has a strange effect on the tenants and somehow sorts out their problems and love lives. It is then discovered that Courtney and his wife were great Shakespearean actors on the brink on stardom when she took ill, and he had to nurse her for ten years until her death.
