Adam and the Reaper

Four billion years ago, They started a project to create a corporeal life form with self-awareness and, if possible, a full awareness of others. In all the millions of worlds involved, the evolution of mankind on Earth was a unique success. This progress is now being threatened. There is total corruption in all national political systems; corporate greed is rampant; in the US, the middle class has been decimated; commercial exploitation of pre-emptive warfare is the norm; and sanctioned assassinations are considered acceptable. A wide variety of drones have been deployed by the military and security forces of all major powers. The loss of national sovereignty and the collateral damage resulting from drone attacks is increasing terrorist activity and the likelihood of a major global conflict.The Watchers are forced to act and they choose Adam Hancock, an extraordinary computer gamer who, with the help of an artificially intelligent battle drone, must find a way to stabilize the project.
