Growing up in the small New England town of Rainbridge, Randall Collins wants nothing more than to hang out with his friends, meet girls, and write The Great American Novel. But as he slowly leaves his childhood behind, Randall's life begins to take some unexpected turns that will ultimately lead him far, far from home. As he struggles to find his place in life, Randall turns to drugs, alcohol, and a motley array of lovers, friends, acquaintances, and strangers, each of whom teaches him a valuable lesson about himself. Now in his thirties, Randall receives a tragic phone call that will change his life forever, forcing him to reexamine the misguided decisions of his youth.
