A Single Pilgrim

In the extreme north of Thailand, on the border with French Indochina (current day Laos), an English timber company whittles away at a vast teak forest. Among the company's managers is John Crane, estranged from his wife in England, who has come to a modus vivendi of sorts with life in the Buddhist nation. Things begin to come unglued with the arrival of an American agent, the Viet Minh, and the insertion of his wife back into his life.
