This volume contains four classical books by Henry Brooks Adams, an American historian, Pulitzer Prize winner and member of the Adams political family (descending from two U.S. Presidents). In March 1880 this book was published anonymously. Several unauthorized editions were printed, until the 1925 edition listed Adams as author.
